Senior & Comfort Grooms

Senior & Comfort Grooms

At The Stables Dog Grooming, we understand that as dogs get older, their grooming needs often change. Age-related conditions, reduced mobility, sensory changes and health concerns can make grooming more physically and emotionally demanding. Our Senior & Comfort Grooming service has been designed to provide a calm, gentle and supportive experience, tailored to your dog's individual needs.

A Gentle, Individual Approach. Every dog is unique, and we take the time to get to know your dog's specific requirements, limitations and preferences.

We understand that some dogs may no longer be able to stand comfortably for long periods or tolerate lengthy grooming        appointments. We will always adapt our approach to meet their individual needs.

Signs Your Senior Dog May Benefit From More Frequent Grooming

As dogs age, they may find it more difficult to keep themselves clean and comfortable. More regular grooming appointments can help maintain coat condition, comfort and overall wellbeing.

You may notice:

  • Difficulty reaching certain areas when grooming themselves
  • The coat becomes tangled or matted more easily
  • Increased shedding or coat changes
  • Soiling around hygiene areas
  • Difficulty standing to brush at home
  • Changes in mobility or flexibility
  • Skin becoming dry, flaky or more sensitive
  • Long nails affecting balance and movement

Regular grooming can help keep senior dogs clean, comfortable and feeling their best, while also allowing us to monitor any changes that owners may wish to discuss with their veterinary team.

Working Alongside Owners and Veterinary Professionals

We encourage owners to keep us informed of any changes in their dog's health, mobility, medication or behaviour so that we can continue to provide the most appropriate care.

Where appropriate, we are happy to work alongside your veterinary team and other canine professionals to help ensure your dog's grooming experience is as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Welfare and Comfort First

A perfect haircut is never more important than your dog's wellbeing.

We will continually assess your dog's comfort throughout the appointment and may recommend adjustments to grooming styles or schedules to better support their health and quality of life.

Caring for Dogs at Every Stage of Life

Whether your dog is slowing down with age, managing a long-term condition, recovering from injury or simply needs a little extra patience and support, we are committed to providing a calm, caring and compassionate grooming experience.

Every dog deserves to feel safe, comfortable and respected, whatever their age or circumstances.

If you would like to discuss your dog's individual needs before booking, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to talk through any concerns and help you decide on the most appropriate grooming plan for your dog.
