About Us - Compassionate Dog Grooming Services

About Us

At our small, family run business, we take pride in providing exceptional care for your dogs, treating each one as our own. We offer various grooming services tailored to meet your dog's specific needs. Whether routine grooming or a luxurious spa experience, your dog will be pampered with compassion and care from start to finish.

Our holistic approach focuses on your dog's overall wellbeing, ensuring they receive the attention and care they deserve. Our groomers are City & Guilds and iPET qualified, trained in canine emergency first aid, iPET Network Level 3 Award in Canine Oral Hygiene and fully insured.

Rachel worked for many years in veterinary practices and is now very happy to be working part-time at RSPCA Mount Noddy, alongside grooming, bringing a wealth of hands-on experience and compassion to her role.  She is currently studying an Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour (Canine).

Following years of working for a national assistance dog charity and a local youth counselling service.  Claire is now doing what she loves most — grooming and caring for dogs, with a strong focus on welfare, patience, and building trust. She is currently studying a Diploma in Canine Marishia Massage Therapy and Canine Nutrition.

We are incredibly proud to be ambassadors for Clipit

We are incredibly proud to be ambassadors for Clipit Grooming, a brand trusted by professional groomers for its high-quality grooming tools, innovation, and commitment to canine welfare.

As groomers ourselves, we understand how important it is to have safe, reliable, and comfortable equipment to create a calm and positive grooming experience for every dog.

Being part of the Clipit ambassador team allows us to work alongside a company that shares our passion for professionalism, ongoing education, and continually improving standards within the grooming industry. We are honoured to represent a brand we genuinely trust and use in our salon, while also sharing products, knowledge, and techniques that support both groomers and dog owners

At The Stables Dog Grooming, every dog is treated as an individual. Our calm, caring approach ensures your dog not only looks their best, but feels safe, comfortable, and understood throughout their visit.

To stay at the forefront of the industry, we regularly attend professional training days and seminars, ensuring we remain up to date with the latest grooming techniques, safety standards, and best practices. Our continued professional development strengthens both our practical skills and our understanding of each dog’s physical and emotional wellbeing.

This ongoing learning supports our welfare led approach, allowing us to recognise stress signals, work sympathetically with nervous or sensitive dogs, and promote comfort, trust, and positive grooming experiences.

We take great pride in keeping the salon spotless and hygienic. All equipment, including grooming tables and baths, is meticulously cleaned and disinfected between each groom, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for every dog.

Our appraoch to Holistic Grooming

To us, holistic grooming means focusing on your dog's overall wellbeing, not just their finished appearance. Inspired by the teachings of industry pioneers like Stephanie Zikmann, we believe grooming shouldn't be a stressful chore, but a health enhancing therapy. Alongside coat care and styling, we prioritise each dog's emotional safety, physical comfort, and individual needs throughout their time with us.

A Patient, Tailored Pace

We work entirely at your dog's pace in a calm, positive environment. Rather than following a rigid timeline or trying to force a dog into a strict routine, we strip the process back and adapt the groom to your dog's mood on that specific day. We adjust grooms and allow extra time and breaks when needed for puppies, seniors, or dogs who are particularly sensitive or anxious.

Building Trust Through Cooperative Care

We practice consent based handling and cooperative care, closely monitoring your dog's behavioural signals and body language. By respecting their need to feel emotionally safe and giving them breaks when they ask for them, we build a foundation of mutual trust. This science backed approach lowers cortisol levels and reduces stress, helping dogs feel secure—especially if they have previously found grooming traumatic.

Whole Body Health and Mindful Care

We look at the bigger picture to support your dog's health from the inside out:

Gentle Products: We use natural, gentle products to protect the skin and coat, avoiding harsh chemicals.

Systemic Wellbeing: We consider factors such as nutrition, mobility, and underlying medical conditions to ensure every dog stays comfortable on the grooming table.

Advanced Continuing Education

To provide the safest, most informed care, we regularly train beyond standard grooming qualifications. Our ongoing professional development includes:

Canine behaviour, body language, and low-stress handling

Canine nutrition to support skin, coat, and systemic health

Canine massage to aid mobility and soothe muscle tension

Skin health, first aid, and welfare focused practices
