Exciting news!
Canine Massage Therapy
I am currently training to become a qualified Canine Massage Therapist in Merishia Massage Therapy. This is a specialist, hands on therapy designed to support dogs’ physical health, mobility, and overall wellbeing.
Canine massage works by targeting muscles, soft tissues, and areas of tension within the body. It can help to:
- Relieve muscular pain and stiffness
- Improve mobility and flexibility
- Support recovery after injury or surgery
- Reduce compensatory strain caused by other conditions
- Promote relaxation and emotional wellbeing
Massage therapy can be beneficial for a wide range of dogs, including:
- Older dogs experiencing stiffness or reduced mobility
- Active and working dogs
- Dogs recovering from injury
- Dogs with orthopaedic conditions such as arthritis
- Dogs showing signs of discomfort, tension, or behavioural changes linked to pain
Canine massage works particularly well alongside other canine professionals, including veterinary surgeons, physiotherapists, and hydrotherapists. By working as part of a collaborative approach, massage therapy can help to support and enhance ongoing treatment plans, improve comfort between sessions, and aid overall recovery and mobility.
For your dog’s safety and wellbeing, a veterinary referral will be required prior to any treatment. This ensures your vet is happy for your dog to receive massage therapy and allows us to work safely and appropriately alongside any existing conditions or treatments.
As I progress through my training, I will look for case study dogs to support my qualification. This will be a great opportunity for your dog to benefit from treatment while helping me complete my practical experience.
If you are interested in your dog being considered for a case study, or if you would simply like to learn more about canine massage and how it could help your dog, please get in touch – we would love to hear from you.
