Directions
From Junction 21 of the M6 take the A57(east) signposted to Irlam. Continue along the A57 for about 2 miles where you will pass through a set of traffic lights which has a right hand turn over the Warburton bridge to Lymm. Continue straight through the lights and a short distance along on the left hand side (infront of a row of new town houses) you will see slip road off the main road. Bear left off the slip road and then immediately right which is the old Manchester Road and continues through Rixton village. You will pass a small row of white cottages on the left hand side and there is a small village shop and post box. Continue past the cottages and you will then see the Black Swan Pub on the left hand side of the road. Take the left turning immediately before the Pub into Dam Lane. Continue along Dam Lane for about half a mile and you will see that the road ahead has a cul de sac sign. Carry straight on, do not turn right into Dam Head Lane! Continue for another half mile, passing some farm buildings and a small hump backed bridge over the railway and you will then reach Milverton Farm a short distance from the bridge.
Warning! Please do not use your Sat Nav as you will be directed along School Lane which is a private road and public access is not permitted. School Lane is muddy and full of pot holes and the local farmers have been known to deny access to unwanted vehicles who try to cut through.
